Why Da Nang is convenient for a wedding location
Da Nang outperforms many Asian destinations in terms of logistics. From the airport to most beach hotels - 15-25 minutes, to Hoi An - about 40 minutes, and to some villas and resorts in the south of the city - even faster. This is important if you have a ceremony, photo shoot and dinner on the same day: there is less travel, less risk of delays and it is easier to gather guests.
The weather also works for the wedding. The dry season in Central Vietnam usually lasts from February to August, and the best months for the ceremony are March to May: less humidity, soft light, calmer seas and more comfortable for shooting at sunset, which here comes around 17:45. During the high season, sites on the first line and in Hoi An are booked in advance, especially on Friday and Saturday.
- —Visa-free for citizens of the Russian Federation - up to 45 days.
- —Prices for venues and services are usually 30–40% lower than Bali.
- —There is a choice between the beach, the city, the historical center and mountain locations.
- —It is convenient for guests to fly through one airport - without domestic flights.
Beach locations: My Khe, Non Nuoc and An Bang
Beach weddings in Da Nang are most often held on My Khe and Non Nuoc. My Khe is suitable if you need a wide coastline, good access and hotels with ready-made infrastructure for the ceremony and banquet. Non Nuoc is quieter and more private, making it easier to find a stretch of beach with fewer casual passers-by and a beautiful backdrop of sand, palm trees and ocean.
If you prefer a more intimate atmosphere, An-Bang in Hoi An is worth checking out. It is usually about 40 minutes away from Da Nang, and is a convenient option for a couple who wants to combine a beach wedding with walks around Old Hoi An. At sunset, outdoor ceremonies and long table dinners are especially good here.
- —My Khe - for large sites, hotels and convenient logistics.
- —Non Nuoc - for a more secluded ceremony by the water.
- —An Bang - for an intimate wedding near Hoi An.
- —The best time for an outdoor ceremony on the beach is 1.5–2 hours before sunset.
Resorts and villas: when privacy and control matter
If you want a closed area, your own garden, a swimming pool and less external noise, it is better to look at villas and resorts. There are venues in Da Nang and on the south coast where you can host the entire wedding in one area: gathering, ceremony, cocktail and dinner. This is convenient for couples with children, older relatives and guests who do not want to change several locations in a day.
The villa is suitable for small weddings of up to 20-30 people, when privacy and flexibility in decor are important. Resort - for events from 30 to 100+ guests, where a kitchen, accommodation, a covered area in case of wind and a backup plan for rain are needed. For Central Vietnam, this is not a formality, but a real necessity: even in the dry season, the weather can change during the evening.
- —Villa - maximum privacy and freedom according to the scenario.
- —The resort has ready-made infrastructure, rooms and kitchen on site.
- —The closed area simplifies the timing and work of contractors.
- —For a wedding with guests from different countries, a venue with accommodation is more convenient.
Hoi An, Thu Bon River and old town as a wedding backdrop
Old Hoi An is one of the most photogenic locations in the region. Narrow streets, yellow facades, lanterns, bridges and embankment create a strong visual image without complex decoration. Hoi An is about 30 km from Da Nang, the journey takes about 40 minutes, so it is convenient to go here for a photo shoot after the ceremony or have a separate wedding day here.
The Thu Bon River adds another scenario: filming on a boat, an evening dinner by the water, or a walk along the embankment at dusk. For couples who want not only the beach, but also the character of the place, Hoi An is often a second must-see itinerary. It is especially beautiful in the evening, when the lights turn on and the city becomes calmer after the daytime flow of tourists.
- —Old Hoi An - for ceremony, walk and evening photography.
- —Thu Bon River - for water shots and dinner by the embankment.
- —The “beach in Da Nang + photo shoot in Hoi An” format is one of the most popular.
- —Locations in Hoi An are best booked in advance during the season from March to May.
Mountains, observation and non-standard platforms
If you don't want the classic beach scenario, Da Nang has strong alternatives. Ba Na Hills is a high point with cooler air, European architecture and the Golden Bridge, often used for spectacular photos. The format is suitable for an early shoot and a small ceremony with an emphasis on the view and scale rather than the seashore.
The Marble Mountains and the Son Tra Peninsula are suitable for those who want a more natural backdrop: stone, greenery, panoramas of the coast and the city. Such locations are good for a photo shoot or a symbolic ceremony for a small group, but require precise planning in terms of light, access and time - especially if you want to be there in time for sunset.
- —Ba Na Hills - for a spectacular picture and a cool mountain atmosphere.
- —Golden Bridge - for a photo shoot with a strong visual accent.
- —Marble Mountains - for natural and panoramic shots.
- —Son Tra - for a ceremony overlooking the sea and the city.
How to choose a location for your wedding format
The selection of a site depends not only on beauty, but also on the scenario of the day. If you have 10-15 guests and only want a ceremony with dinner, villas, beach restaurants or small venues in Hoi An often work better. If there are 30–70 guests, you need a resort with a kitchen, accommodations and a clear backup plan. For large weddings, parking, access for decoration, and the ability to close off part of the area for your event are especially important.
We usually start from three things: light, logistics and a backup plan. Light is needed for photos and videos, logistics are needed so as not to spend half a day moving, a backup plan is needed so that rain or wind does not disrupt the timing. Therefore, the same couple can choose a beach for the ceremony, a villa for dinner and Hoi An for a photo shoot - and this is often a better route than one “ideal” location for the whole day.
- —Up to 15 guests - villa, intimate restaurant, small beach area.
- —15–50 guests - resort or private venue with a banquet area.
- —50+ guests - facility with accommodation, kitchen and indoor reserve.
- —For photos and videos, choose locations with access to sunset and natural light.
