Why Hoi An is chosen for a wedding
Hoi An provides that rare balance that is difficult to replicate in other locations in Vietnam: ancient architecture, water, lantern light and the calm rhythm of the city. There is no need to build scenery from scratch - streets, bridges, courtyards and facades are already working for the frame. Hoi An reveals itself especially well in the late afternoon, when the sun goes below the horizon at about 17:45, and after that the soft warm light begins and the evening lighting turns on.
For a wedding, this means more freedom in the scenario. You can hold the ceremony during the day in a private villa, then do a walking shoot in the old city, and then go out to the Thu Bon River on a boat with lanterns. If you want an intimate format without the fuss, Hoi An is better suited than a large resort: it’s easier to catch the silence here, even during the tourist season, and organize the day around the couple, rather than around the location.
- —old town with historical facades and narrow streets
- —Thu Bon river with boats and evening illumination
- —lanterns that create the recognizable atmosphere of Hoi An
- —Convenient road from Da Nang - about 40 minutes
- —many locations for shooting within walking distance
What a wedding in Hoi An looks like step by step
Typically, a wedding day in Hoi An is built around light and movement. In the morning and afternoon it is convenient to prepare the couple and the first part of the shoot in a hotel or villa. Then - a ceremony in the garden, on the terrace or in a private courtyard. After this, the most valuable time for a photographer remains: the golden hour, the transition to twilight and night photography with flashlights.
If you want to add movement around the city to the program, we can build a route so that it is beautiful, but not tiring. For example, a short walk through the old quarter, shots of bridges and water, then a boat along Thu Bon. In Hoi An, it is important not to overload the day: the city works best at a calm pace, when you have time to stop, drink tea, change your image and shoot several scenes with different moods.
- —couple preparation in Da Nang or Hoi An
- —outdoor ceremony in a private location
- —walking photography in the old town
- —evening block by the Thu Bon River and by boat
- —dinner or after party in a restaurant, villa or rooftop
Locations for ceremony and filming
In Hoi An, you can work with several types of space at once. Closed courtyards, villas, small gardens and terraces near the water are suitable for the ceremony. For walking photography - the historical center, embankments, bridges and quiet streets with traditional facades. The Thu Bon River is especially good for evening shots: lanterns are reflected on the water, and boats give lively dynamics without complex props.
If a more private setting is important to you, we select a location outside the dense tourist flow and coordinate the time so as not to stand in queues behind the scenes. If you want the maximum atmosphere of the old city, you can integrate iconic points of Hoi An into the route and at the same time maintain comfort for guests. We always look at the season, the hour of shooting and the number of people in the frame - this is what most influences the result.
- —private villas and courtyards for the ceremony
- —embankments and bridges for walking photography
- —Thu Bon River for evening shots and boats
- —old town for atmospheric portraits
- —restaurants and terraces for dinner after the ceremony
What is included in organizing a wedding in Hoi An?
We put together a full-service wedding: from ideas and timing to decor, coordination and work with contractors. For Hoi An this is especially important because here a lot depends on the route, light and exact start time. If the ceremony is scheduled too late, you miss out on a good day's shot;if you start too early, you won't get beautiful evening lighting. Therefore, timing here is not a formality, but part of the script.
The package usually includes the venue, decoration, bouquet and floristry, host or master of ceremonies, photo and video shooting, transfer from Da Nang, coordination on the wedding day. If desired, we can add a boat to Thu Bon, dinner for a small group, live music and stylists. We work so that you do not have to separately look for each contractor and explain to them the features of local logistics.
- —selection and reservation of location
- —wedding decor and floristry
- —photos and videos from the evening block
- —coordination and timing of the day
- —transfer Da Nang - Hoi An - Da Nang
When is the best time to have a wedding in Hoi An?
For Central Vietnam, the dry season runs from about February to August, and the best months for a wedding are March, April and May. At this time, there is less risk of rain in Hoi An, the light is softer, and evening shots are clearer in color. Summer can be hot, so it is best to plan the ceremony closer to sunset or in a room with good ventilation and shade.
In terms of visual results, Hoi An is especially beautiful on a clear day and dry evening. The wet season does not make a wedding impossible, but it does require more time and a backup plan in case of precipitation. We look at the forecast in advance, select shooting hours and give you a Plan B so that you are not dependent on the weather at one specific hour.
- —dry season: February - August
- —best months: March - May
- —Shooting is especially successful 1.5–2 hours before sunset
- —Evening lights and reflections in the water give a strong visual effect
- —for the rainy season you need a backup indoor option
Why is it convenient to travel to Hoi An from Da Nang?
For most couples, Hoi An is the ideal getaway location from Da Nang. There are only about 30 km between the cities, and you will spend about 40 minutes on the road. This allows you not to change your base of residence, not to move with luggage and not to spend half a day on logistics. Guests can stay in Da Nang by the sea, for example at My Khe, and have their wedding in Hoi An.
This format is especially convenient for those who fly to Vietnam for a short time. For citizens of the Russian Federation, visa-free entry is available for up to 45 days, and prices for services in Da Nang and Central Vietnam are on average 30–40% lower than in Bali with a comparable level of service. This allows you to put together a beautiful wedding without the extra budget for domestic flights and complex travel.
- —from Da Nang to Hoi An - about 40 minutes
- —no need to change hotel between the sea and the ceremony
- —convenient for guests who arrive for a short period of time
- —you can combine a wedding with a vacation on the beaches of My Khe and Non Nuoc
- —the budget is often noticeably lower than on popular island destinations
What additional places can be included in the wedding itinerary?
If you want to make your wedding not only beautiful, but also truly local, we can put together an itinerary around Hoi An and the central coast. Often couples add the old quarters of Hoi An, the Thu Bon River embankment to the program, and the next day they go to Da Nang or towards Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge. This is convenient if you are planning a wedding weekend, and not just the ceremony.
For a more eventful itinerary, you can combine Hoi An with the Marble Mountains, Son Tra Peninsula, Hai Van Pass, or even a trip to Hue. But for the wedding itself, we advise you not to overload the day with long-distance travel: Hoi An itself provides enough visual material so as not to be scattered among unnecessary locations.
- —Hoi An old town and Thu Bon river
- —An Bang beach for morning or next afternoon shooting
- —Da Nang and the embankment overlooking the Dragon Bridge
- —Ba Na Hills and Golden Bridge for the second day
- —Marble Mountains and Son Tra Peninsula for an extended route
